Free-falling

That job meant a lot to me. I planned to retire from there ... to grow with the ministry ... to leave when I felt the Lord leading. In my grief and confusion and sense of being lost God keeps showing up.
Maybe it's because I lost my job right around New Years but the phrase, "I am doing something new" is on repeat.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19
Jesus has been using my favorite devotional, Jesus Always, to point me again and again to that theme. I woke up one day and read, "I am always doing something new in your life. So try to keep an open mind when you encounter things you have not seen before ... or even imagined."
Sarah Young makes the analogy of a trapeze artist: "She must leave the safety of the swing she is on in order to move toward her goal. As she abandons the security of where she was, she will be briefly in flight ... until she connects to the next trapeze. At times you may feel as if you're in flight when you experience newness that feels uncomfortable."
It's a scary feeling, this "in flight" thing. I have no idea what the next trapeze is or when it's going to come soaring my way.
Even though it feels like it right now, I'm not free-falling. I have to remind myself and repeat the truth to Jesus: "I am always with you, You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel." Psalm 73:23
He's got me. He's holding you. We're gonna be ok.
