He Always Wants to Give us More

I got another "no" today for a job I applied to. It wasn't surprising but it still stung. And it was another small little grief to process.

With the warmer weather I took the opportunity to go for a walk in the woods with Jesus. He loves when we come to Him with all of our questions, doubts and confusion ... even as we recommit to our faith and trust in Him.

Jesus has been doing some deep heart work during this period of unemployment. He's revealing areas that I thought were sorted out years ago ... like me believing (beyond head knowledge) that He loves me. Sometimes we forget His heart when we can't see His hand (thanks Jason Mitchell).

As I walked along the trail I asked to see and experience a fresh revelation of His love. I was hungry for more of Him. I was hurting a little and needed my Father to show up ... give me an extra glimpse of goodness.

I walk this particular trail cause it leads me to a creek and running water makes me happy. When I got to my favorite spot I looked down at a rock and saw what I thought was an upside down Lego figure. I picked it up, turned it over and it was a figure of Jesus wearing a sash that said, "Jesus loves you." For real. I didn't have my phone with me to take a picture for proof and I didn't want to remove it because I'm sure God has a plan to tell someone else.

I started back and asked God for "more" because this is the kind of fun that I want to keep having. There, in a tree, sat a bright red cardinal. If you know me, you know that I was squealing, "RED BIRD!" They are my love language. Frisco and I stood and stared at it until I glanced away for a second and it was gone.

This is how God loves us and wants to interact with us. Our relationship with Him is meant to be experiential. He loves to delight us and waits for us to turn our hearts and attention to receive more of Him.
